The purpose of the PostgreSQL in Business forum is ‘to fine-tune and amplify’ the message that in adopting PostgreSQL as a database solution, businesses can and will secure an excellent return on investment.

That is a very simple message. In communicating this message, we may mention PostgreSQL’s range of technical features, its zero-cost licencing, its vendor-independence and any other of the key attractions of PostgreSQL, but at the end of the day, more than anything else, we must clearly enunciate the business value of this incredible technology.

This hopefully addresses the key question that many may ask – how does the PostgreSQL in Business forum differ from the Advocacy mailing list that has served PostgreSQL so well for so long. I see this forum as a more business-focused outlet for discussion of PostgreSQL. While we will always welcome comment and contributions from all comers, we will encourage participants to stay ‘on message’ and provide perspectives, insights on the role of PostgreSQL as a critical business tool.

I hope that this forum fulfills the function I have outlined here. If it does not, I equally hope that we have the confidence and honesty to accept this and change our course, if that is required.
